PORT OF ALBANY SEEKING PROPOSALS FOR THE CORNING PRESERVE VISITORS CENTER ON THE HUDSON RIVER IN DOWNTOWN ALBANY

May 28, 2014

The Port of Albany has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) for the Corning Preserve Visitors Center Building located along the Hudson River in downtown Albany. The Port of Albany is seeking a dynamic user that will provide a public benefit to the thousands of patrons that regularly utilize the amphitheater and Corning Preserve recreational area in the spring, summer and fall months. The +/- 900 square foot space is the only permanent structure located on the waterfront district and is an excellent opportunity for a business to contribute to the public activities, including Alive at Five, Father’s Day Pops Concert and other festivals and events that are held in the Corning Preserve area.

The Port of Albany maintains the subject space, the adjacent public restrooms and the floating docks in the Hudson River for public use.  The Port of Albany is seeking proposals for uses that would complement and enhance the public enjoyment of the waterfront area. The waterfront area is a major component of Impact Downtown Albany, a Downtown reinvestment strategy and Waterfront Master Plan that Capitalize Albany Corporation and the City of Albany are currently undertaking.
