Groundbreaking Marks Important Milestone For Mount Hope Commons Project at 351 Southern Boulevard

July 10, 2019

Joined by Sonic Drive In, Trinity Realty Group broke ground on its Mt. Hope Commons project at 351 Southern Boulevard in Albany — a more than $23 million redevelopment of the 10.5-acre site will create hundreds of jobs, several public infrastructure upgrades, new neighborhood amenities and increased tax revenue.

A City of Albany Industrial Development Agency supported project, portions of this project will have direct public infrastructure benefits. A new traffic light with a left hand turn signal will be installed to create a safer intersection for traffic and pedestrians. Sidewalks will be constructed along route 9W and Mount Hope Drive along the project’s perimeter. Two CDTA bus stops will be installed, enhancing bus transit access. The renovated properties will include retail, a fitness center, a Four Points by Sheraton hotel, and other amenities in addition to the Sonic which is expected to create more than 100 jobs alone.

Construction of the Four Points by Sheraton hotel is getting under way on site. The project will take what is currently a vacant 1.8 acre parcel and create 106 hotel rooms with an indoor pool, fitness room, a bar and lounge. The hotel project will create 25 permanent jobs, and 100 construction jobs.
