New Downtown Location To Support Albany Center Gallery Expansion

August 5, 2025

Albany Center Gallery, a nonprofit art space and gallery showcasing local and regional artists for nearly half a century, announced today a key move from its location in the Arcade Building to a larger downtown Albany building. The new venue will accommodate and enhance ACG’s rapidly growing programs, staff, projects, and initiatives.

The new location, 48 North Pearl Street, owned by Jankow Companies, home to downtown’s newest apartment units, sits on the corner of Pine Street, two blocks west of ACG’s current building. ACG will occupy 6,600 square feet on the building’s first floor, with 4,100 square feet planned for flexible exhibition and youth art programming spaces – more than double the current usable gallery. The rest of the floor will feature offices, storage, a breakroom, and more.

ACG’s relocation and expansion is made possible in part with support from the Downtown Albany Retail Grant Program. Jankow Companies’ recent program grant award will support necessary interior renovations including electrical work. The grant program is made possible by the City of Albany Capital Resource Corporation and is administered by Capitalize Albany Corporation.

The move and expansion reflects the continued evolution of downtown Albany and the demand for creative space. The Downtown Albany Retail Grant Program has proven to be an advantageous tool allowing local small businesses and organizations to retain and expand their presence even further in Downtown Albany.
