Ride Free This Summer On New CDTA Shuttle Serving Downtown, Lark Street and Warehouse Business Districts

June 6, 2017

The Capital District Transportation Authority’s new Capital City Shuttle service will launch June 8 and run through Labor Day. The pilot program will serve Lark Street, Downtown Albany’s entertainment district, and the Warehouse District every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. this summer. A free service for riders, supported in part by the Amplify Albany Grant Program and several community partners, the Shuttle will connect residents and visitors to a variety of recreational options with easy access to summer concerts, historic landmarks, and each district’s retail and dining options.

Implementation of the Impact Downtown Albany strategic plan has supported new investment in every direction surrounding downtown—from new residential options, to new retail, restaurants and entertainment venues—the Capital City Shuttle is a crucial counterpart to serve each of the route’s three commercial districts simultaneously.

The Shuttle will provide service every 20 minutes, the route runs from Washington Park (Madison and New Scotland) to Lark Street, Lark Street to Washington, Washington to downtown, and north on Broadway to the Warehouse District. CDTA projects ridership of 10,000+ with a goal of 20,000. More information can be found at www.CDTA.org
