Introducing Amazon To The Heart Of Tech Valley

October 20, 2017

With support from Capitalize Albany Corporation, the Center For Economic Growth hand-delivered Tech Valley’s pitch for Amazon’s $5 billion second corporate headquarters on Thursday.

Amazon’s proposed HQ2 location would include unprecedented linkages to the Hudson River—the Amazon Promenade—millions of square feet of office space in downtown Albany and Rensselaer connected by multiple transportation options which include an aerial gondola. Progress driven by Impact Downtown Albany implementation has supported development of the many surrounding investments and Regional assets that make this option most strategic. A 25-acre site between the Times Union Center and Broadway in downtown Albany with a capacity of 2 million square feet of office space that includes the Liberty Park redevelopment site, and 75 acres along the Rensselaer riverfront that could accommodate 6 million square feet was identified. For a flyover view, watch the video rendering above.

In addition to a physical location, the deliverable provides an in-depth look at everything the Northeast’s center for innovation, the encompassing 15-county Tech Valley, has to offer. The document brings together its cities, counties, businesses and New York State for a cohesive demonstration of the Capital Region’s and Tech Valley’s greatest assets.
