Zombie Herd Returns To Upper Madison In Albany
October 24, 2017
For a second year, the undead have taken over Albany’s Madison Theater. Event-goers can join the zombie herd for the four-night film festival, “The Zombies Are Coming 2: Return Of The Film Festival,” organized by the University at Albany’s Writing and Critical Inquiry program. A range of films produced throughout history that have shaped the zeitgeist of the apocalyptic horror genre surrounding zombies will be featured at the Theater starting Thursday Oct. 26 and running through Sunday, Oct. 29. The film screenings will be complemented by community and panel discussions surrounding the films.
Made possible in part by the Amplify Albany Grant Program, hundreds attended the inaugural festival in 2016. With expanded programming that includes costume contests, horror makeup sessions, more film screenings and a canned food donation drive, the festival received support for its return in 2017. The four-night event will drive foot-traffic and draw hundreds to Albany’s upper Madison business district. Funding for the Amplify Albany Grant Program was provided by the City of Albany’s Capital Resource Corporation.
