Recognizing downtown Albany as a destination, Discover Albany, in collaboration with the Albany Center Gallery, last week revealed the new cover design for the 2020 Discover Albany Visitors Guide. The cover and companion map were both illustrated by artist Cara Hanley and feature downtown as part of the guide’s “Artful Albany” theme.
The @Discoveralbany 2020 Visitors Guide artist illustrations will serve as a unique wayfinding tool as new visitors, employees and residents converge on downtown where more than $250 million of investment is under way, #ImpactDowntown. https://t.co/GMxq481n4B https://t.co/udAesHzykC pic.twitter.com/b7goJlW2OF

Supported by the Impact Downtown Albany plan, more than $250 million worth of investment is both underway and in the pipeline. The plan recognizes that a thriving local arts and cultural scene are essential to the visitor experience and key drivers of economic growth – facts underscored in the new guide.
In addition, more pop-up programming and public art is being implemented, including murals as part of the Capital Walls initiative, and projects like the ‘Downtown is Pawsome’ sculptures.
This year’s Visitors Guide brings a fresh perspective to a long-standing avenue for discovering the region’s assets and authentic experiences, serving as a unique tool to help new visitors, employees and residents find their way as they visit downtown this year. Learn more.
