ACG’s 21st Annual Members’ Show is underway and will be available for public viewing through Friday, Feb. 20, it’s free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, from Noon – 5PM.

This move marks the organization’s sixth location since its founding in 1977 and reaffirms its commitment to downtown Albany. The new North Pearl Street space is substantially larger, 6,600 sq. ft. in total, with the majority dedicated to flexible exhibition space and youth education programming, alongside office, communal, and storage areas.

The expansion was supported by a Downtown Albany Retail Grant Program award. The program is administered by Capitalize Albany Corporation and made possible by the City of Albany Capital Resource Corporation. The grant award supported necessary renovations completed by the building’s property owner Jankow Companies. The program assists new and existing businesses in establishing or expanding a Downtown retail presence.

Albany Center Gallery’s opening also marks the full activation of The RISE Downtown, jankow companies’ $8 million 20-unit market-rate multifamily mixed-use development.

Over the past five years, ACG has expanded from three employees to seven and now works with more than 400 artists annually. This growth necessitated a space that could better reflect and support the organization’s future work.

The youth education space is double the size of its previous location, allowing ACG to implement even more programming. First up was a free Screen-Printing Workshop led by artist Krissy Monahan on Saturday, January 17. There will be more workshops like this in the future.

ACG’s location on Pearl Street also encourages visitors to further explore downtown Albany, potentially for the first time. With popular nearby destinations including Albany Modern Body Art, Viva Empanadas, The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Wizard Burger, Banh Mi 47, Elif’s, and Alias Coffee, visitors can enjoy a vibrant mix of art, dining, and culture.

ACG is currently fundraising to support its mission and help establish a strong foundation in its new home. The gallery aims to raise $48,000 by January 31, with ACG’s Board of Directors and dedicated supporters matching donations up to $24,000. Funds raised will expand innovative programming, ensuring a thriving future for ACG at 48 N. Pearl Street.
