Grant Writing Workshop Series In Albany Equips Applicants To Compete For Grant Funding

March 20, 2026

Knowing how to approach a grant application and clearly frame its key elements can provide a real advantage in a competitive process. This month, we expanded our capacity-building grant writing workshop series with a hands-on session that offered practical tools to help applicants tell their story by breaking down the essential components of a strong application.

More than 60 nonprofit leaders, small business owners, and professionals joined Mayor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs, Capitalize Albany, the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region, and the Albany Housing Authority at the Albany Public Library’s Howe Branch. The workshop focused on strengthening participants’ grant-writing skills and building confidence to pursue a first application.

Our team is looking forward to more opportunities this year to expand this series. Whether you’re a small business or nonprofit organization exploring grant funding for the first time, or looking to sharpen your skills, we hope to see even more in the community join us at future sessions. In these workshops we engage in guided discussions, table activities, and real-world examples to help attendees better understand how to tell a clear, compelling, and competitive story in a grant application.
